"It was not her brother's hand she was holding..." (February 9, 1814)

The piece that causes such confusion is Luigi Boccherini’s “La Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid”, op. 30 n. 6 (1780), a quintettino for two violins, viola and two violoncellos in C major (G. 324). There is a fine recording by Jordi Savall’s Concert des Nations that strikes me as somewhat over-dramatic, however.

I prefer the one by Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The harsh first movement comes across better, and the whole performance is more even.
