“There’s the party from Delapré Abbey.” (March 6, 1814)

Delapré Abbey was recently restored and opened its doors to visitors with an attractive programme of events. If you're planning an outing, please check the website to make sure the house and grounds are open! Failing reality, the website’s gallery offers a fine virtual tour.

The Peerage has this entry about the abbey's former owners:
Hon. Edward Bouverie was the son of Jacob des Bouverie, 1st Viscount Folkestone and Mary Clarke [Aren't you supposed to put commas around non-restrictive appositions? But the Peerage probably expects us to know that "1st Viscount Folkestone" is indeed an apposition and not the second element in a list...]. He married Henrietta Fawkener, daughter of Sir E. Fawkener [Zeus-like he produced her fully armed from his forehead!], on 30 June 1764. He died on 3 September 1810. Hon. Edward Bouverie lived at Delapre Abbey.
Children of Hon. Edward Bouverie and Henrietta Fawkener:
• Harriet Elizabeth Bouverie d. 8 Aug 1810
• Jane Bouverie
• Diana Juliana Margaretta Bouverie b. 1787
For the purpose of my plot I’ve extended Edward Bouverie’s lifespan by a few years....
